One of the biggest reasons we’re able to make such an IMPACT on our community is the support of the Lions Clubs across BC. This winter we benefited from their commitment and generosity as the Lions in Victoria and the Cowichan Valley came together to help raise over $12,000, through our annual Chip In event.
The community-based event allows residents to dispose of their Christmas trees in an environmentally-friendly manner. And every year, through rain, snow, and freezing temperatures the Lions show their passion and commitment by showing up. And every year, they ask for nothing. This selfless act is at the heart of the Lions Clubs across our province and because of them, we’re able to deliver on our mission.
Money raised from the event will go to support Camp Shawnigan, where children, youth and families go every summer to build relationships and participate in activities that empower individuals to lead their best life. Camp Shawnigan also provides family members and caregivers with much needed and valuable respite care.
For over 34 years, the Lions have supported this event and our efforts to build more inclusive and accessible communities through Camp Shawnigan. Thank you, Lions – you’re an inspiration.
Next year, Chip In will celebrate 35 years and we’re planning something big. Stay tuned.
