In the summer of 2011, Camp Winfield was where James and Keri first crossed paths. Both were part of a group of specially trained staff that summer, with James involved in coordinating camp activities and Keri managing the ropes program. The camp’s community-focused and vibrant environment facilitated not just professional collaboration but also fostered meaningful personal connections among its staff.
Throughout that summer, the natural beauty and spirited atmosphere of Camp Winfield played a pivotal role in their growing friendship. Surrounded by fellow camp counselors who would later become lifelong friends, they experienced the joys and challenges of camp life, laying a strong foundation for their relationship. It wasn’t until the following fall that their friendship blossomed into something more.
Six years later, their decision to host their wedding at Camp Winfield in 2017 spoke volumes about the camp’s significance in their lives. The camp was not just a picturesque venue, but a place imbued with personal history and cherished memories. The wedding encapsulated the essence of camp life—complete with onsite accommodations for guests, a sundae bar, engaging games, and nights filled with karaoke and movies. The highlight was a dance party reminiscent of those joyous summer camp evenings, filled with laughter and camp songs.
Reflecting on their journey, James credits the camp not just as the place where they met, but as a transformative backdrop that has profoundly influenced their lives and relationship. To them, and to so many others, Camp Winfield, continues to be a place they cherish deeply for its ability to nurture personal growth and community bonds.
