“I am so proud to announce that 2024 is looking like our strongest season since COVID-19!” Dale Kilgour, Camps and Recreation Director commented. We’ve had a great response to hiring this year with near full staffing at all three camp sites, including skilled workers like nurses and lifeguards. Also involved in the hiring process was training a diverse set of camp counselors to be future nurses, teachers, and community helpers.
Every year campers arrive, excited to embark on their next adventure, and challenge themselves with new activities. Our camps are unique spaces that inspire growth and self-discovery in an accessible and inclusive atmosphere. “My son loves the large open spaces and the special treehouse at Camp Squamish. Because of attending camp, he has gotten more comfortable around others and more independent,” a mom shares about her son’s experience at Camp Squamish. Transformative camp experiences like this are made possible thanks to the support of our generous donors.
Our facilities have seen great improvements over the past few years, with the pool at Camp Squamish officially open this season, and great strides made in the Camp Shawnigan Capital Campaign.
Lastly, our partnerships with new organizations are working towards a future of collaboration. With campers from Canadian Autism Network (CAN), Canadian National Institute For The Blind (CNIB), and Camp Liberte joining us this summer, many of our programs are nearly full.
