Easter Seals launches new Urban Activities Program in Vancouver, North Vancouver & Surrey in Summer 2019
A new Easter Seals Urban Activities Program is being offered this summer which includes fun and education day trips in the Lower Mainland for youth and young adults with diverse abilities ages 13-29.
“This summer the Urban Activities Program will bring the adventure and skill-building fun of Easter Seals camps to Vancouver, North Vancouver and Surrey,” says Charlene Krepiakevich, CEO and President of Easter Seals BC/Yukon. “Activities will include everything from bowling and sports days in the park, to scavenger hunts, fun with animals, and shopping trips. Participants will be taking transit together to and from our activities, with the aim of helping everyone become more comfortable getting around and exploring the great things their city has to offer.”
Throughout July there will be sessions for youth 13-18 and sessions for young adults 19-29. Participants will interact with other youth who have disabilities, and together they will build social skills and confidence through fun and educational day trips around the Lower Mainland.
Registration opened April 1st, and participants will be able to choose from a list of dates and activities so that their schedule can be tailored to what they enjoy best.
“We’re excited to offer this new program, and help enable and find ways to support persons with diverse abilities throughout their lifetime,” adds Krepiakevich.
