Easter Seals BC & Yukon appoints Michael Leland as Vice-President, Engagement and Philanthropy
Easter Seals BC & Yukon is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Leland as its Vice-President, Engagement and Philanthropy.
With two decades of public relations, fundraising and strategic business experience with some of the biggest non-profit organizations in Canada, Leland brings a range of skills and expertise in PR, marketing and fund development that will drive Easter Seals’ philanthropy and community engagement portfolio, and advance the broader mission, strategies, and brand of the organization.
“Michael has an incredible track record of success in public relations and fundraising, fostering the connections and relationships necessary to fuel the success of this organization and the clients we serve,” said Lisa Beck, President & CEO, Easter Seals BC & Yukon. “Our strategic plan is clear that we must find new sources of philanthropy and develop new partnerships that will drive our efforts to unleash the potential of the programs and services we offer our community and tell the story of Easter Seals more broadly. I am grateful Michael has chosen to come to Easter Seals BC & Yukon and lead this effort on our team.”
In his previous role as Divisional Secretary, Public Relations & Development at The Salvation Army, Leland led a successful multi-million-dollar capital campaign to support the single largest capital investment in Salvation Army history, here in Canada. He also helped advance the strategic direction in British Columbia by significantly growing brand awareness, increasing overall revenues, and tackling social justice issues by developing community engagement strategies across the province.
“Supporting children with disabilities and their families in their efforts to better their lives is something that I care deeply about,” says Leland. “I feel we all have a part to play in our community and I try to live life following the philosophy that we must be the change we want to see in the world. I’m excited about the future of Easter Seals, and I’m looking forward to applying my experience, knowledge and passion, to not only to help us achieve our mission, but grow and expand our horizons.”
Michael holds a BA from Simon Fraser University. He is an active member of the community and volunteers his time as both a Co-Director of Communications with the Association of Fundraising Professionals and Director of Sponsorship & Professional Development with the Canadian Public Relations Society.
