Registration now open for the National Bank Easter Seals Charity Regatta on June 2.
New format expected to increase funding for families in need at Easter Seals House
March 8, 2018 – Vancouver, BC – For sailors and non-sailors, the National Bank Easter Seals Charity Regatta, now in its 27th year, kicks off the sailing season with a fundraiser to support families in need at the Easter Seals House.
Held June 2nd at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club (RVYC), the Regatta promises fun for the entire community. Sailors enter crews to compete for prizes. Non-sailors can join a crew and experience the race on the water. Spectators can go aboard a Spectator Boat to watch the action. And everyone, including friends, family and the public, can enjoy the post-regatta festival at Hastings Mills Park in Vancouver after the race.
Registration is now open for sailors, for the Crew Experience, for the Spectator Boat, and the post-regatta Festival.
The sailing competition is points-based to keep the race fun and inviting. Registration for each boat is only $150 that includes a RVYC BBQ and Steamwhistle beer or non-alcoholic beverage for the whole crew.
Everyone in the community is also invited to the post-regatta festival featuring a RVYC BBQ, beer & wine gardens, activities for the children, music and a silent auction to help raise funds for the Easter Seals House. Tickets are available at www.eastersealsregatta.ca.
“We are always touched by the heart-warming support of all the sailing community, as well as the many spectators and volunteers who come out every year for this charity regatta,” says Charlene Krepiakevich, President & CEO, Easter Seals BC & Yukon – a charity that supports and enables access for individuals with disabilities. “Their donations go a long way to support children and their families who stay at Easter Seals House when they travel to Vancouver for specialized medical care.”
In the last three years, the Regatta has raised nearly $453,000 for Easter Seals House in Vancouver. Families from all over BC and the Yukon stay at Easter Seals House while their child or loved one receives care and treatment at nearby medical facilities. No matter how long they plan to stay, families experience a warm welcome at Easter Seals House, offering a perfect home away from home.
“We are very proud to once again have the opportunity to support Easter Seals BC & Yukon, and make a difference in the lives of children and their families,” says Kathy Kushner, Manager – Wealth Management Solutions Group – B.C, National Bank. “Our goal is to build a prosperous society where families are supported in their time of need. We are proud to return as the title sponsor of the Regatta — bringing together corporate partners, sailing enthusiasts, and the general community at an event that is a firm fixture in the Regatta calendar and supports a greater community need.”
